SIZE: 2,616 square feet

PROJECT TYPE: Single Family Home

HOME DESCRIPTION:

1109 Emerald represents the crossroads between all major green building trends and traditional American housing. This custom suburban interpretation of the classic Bungalow design is proof that sustainability can be incorporated into any project. Utilizing building-science instead of just green products proved to be the secret to achieving success.

The project’s mission was to focus on energy, health, water quality, comfort and durability. These goals set the groundwork for the home that was built. The 2,600 sqft residence has four bedrooms, Susanka inspired design, energy bills less than $75/month, incredible air & water quality, a low maintenance envelope and unmatched interior comfort.

JB Architecture was both the architect and builder of this advanced, yet familiar home. They are also the team behind Naperville’s only LEED Certified home, North Aurora’s only LEED Silver home, Naperville’s first Energy Star 3.0 certified home and numerous other green projects. JBA prides itself on maintaining design integrity throughout the build process and is passionate about building the type of homes everyone should live in.

The JB Architecture philosophy is an easy one to believe in. Said best by building scientist John Tooley, “Don’t just doing things right. Be sure to do the right things right.”
