Lighting, Solar PV and EVs
Once the big energy consumption items are taken care of, check that you’re using efficient LED lighting. Add renewable options as needed. If you have the opportunity to add enough solar onsite, you can offset your annual energy use to reach net zero.
Are all your bulbs LED?
Great!
Replace high-use bulbs (>1 hr per day) with LEDs as soon as possible. Replace the rest with LEDs as they go out. Recycle old fluorescent bulbs at local hardware store or elsewhere due to Mercury content.
Do you have solar PV?
Great!
Add more if you need it to cover your demand and your roof allows solar coverage.
If your roof allows, add PV: if it doesn’t, purchase community solar
Do you have an electric vehicle?
Great!
Install a smart charger and/or consider enrolling in smart charging programs with your utility.
